Royal Lake Eco-City Experience Center – Chongqing, China
"Royal Lake International Tourist Resort" is located in the western core of Green Island new area, Bishan District, Chongqing, which is the benchmark as the most important cultural tourism destination to lead the whole new district. Chongqing's unique mountains area provides visitors with a beautiful landscape and a variety of natural spaces such as ground seams, sinkholes, waterfalls and so on. By incorporating a wealth of landscape space concepts into architectural design, a variety of public spaces are created between commercial facilities. The project aims to provide visitors with a wide range of outdoor activities and landscape space. Building volume and master planning are inspired by large areas of the Chongqing Valley. The architecture consists of three volumes that extend from east to west and a stepped commercial area facing the lake. The three-block volume is composed of the South low North height, which is suitable for the topography to form the hierarchical sense of the building volume. The valley between the volumes is the main pedestrian street and is designed to visually connect the West Lake and the East entrance plaza. The main exterior wall of the building adopts a punching metal imitating the landscape painting of Chongqing painter. The overall architectural impression blends traditional culture with modern art.
